
Kitchener, Ontario, May 28, 2008 - On Friday, May 30, 2008, Boxing by Syd Vanderpool, in association with the Concert Factory, will be presenting Friday Night Fights at the CAW 1451 Union Hall at 600 Wabanaki Dr. in Kitchener.
For the first time in almost four years, Syd ‘The Jewel’ Vanderpool is stepping back into the boxing ring. “I didn’t think I would be back so soon,” he adds, “But the opportunity to host and coach these athletes was a chance I couldn’t pass up.” A former Middleweight champion boxer, and now the CEO and founder of Vanderpool Training and Boxing by Syd Vanderpool, Syd will be corner-side at Friday Night Fights coaching the fighters, including his brother Ian Vanderpool.
At the May 30th event, Kitcheners own two-time Light-Heavyweight Golden Gloves champion Julius ‘Caesar’ Bunda will demonstrate why he was voted the best male boxer of the prestigious 2008 Golden Gloves tournament. Other Kitchener boxers in action will include Devon Saunders, Ian Vanderpool, Natasha Spence, Lucas Rowe, Sara Buzcek, and Junior Dann. Doors open at CAW 1451Union Hall at 6:30pm, fight time is 7:30pm.
Friday Night Fights promotes ongoing boxing entertainment that showcases some of Waterloo Region’s top boxers and athletes. The next event will be at the Old Roxy Theatre in Mount Forest on July 18, 2008.
